Project Abstract

This project focuses in the development of the necessary computational infrastructure in the University of Tirana, Albania and mainly in the educational and research computational needs of Natural Sciences and Engineering related Departments. Two educational computer labs and one research cluster have already been created. The research cluster is used for High Performance Computing for Large Scale Simulations by Physicists and Engineers mostly for the time being, though it is planned to invite members of the Informatics, Chemistry, Biology, Linguistics and Medical Sciences. The aim is to mold a new generation of researchers capable for high level applied research and give the opportunity to the active faculty member of the University of Tirana to participate in high-end international and European projects. The project has already exceeded the original expectations and has lead to a bilateral cooperation agreement.
